Earl Nightingale’s Words of Wisdom For Your Success

Words of WisdomHave you ever wondered why so many people seem to continuously achieve massive success without exerting too much effort while others work so hard and yet still fail to achieve anything in particular? If you answered yes, then this article will definitely be of great value to you. You will learn why there is such a large disparity between where you are right now and where you ultimately want to be, and how to close that gap so you too can be part of that small group of people who constantly attract success in their lives instead of repelling it.

Today, I want to share with you some very powerful words of wisdom and success principles from the world’s pioneer in achievement and one of the greatest teachers in the self-improvement industry ever, Mr. Earl Nightingale.  In case you have no idea who he was, I will tell you that he was not only a renowned broadcaster, speaker, author, and one of the greatest motivators of his era, but he also co-founded the publishing company Nightingale-Conant, which became the world’s leader in personal development programs since 1960.

In his famous audio recording “The Strangest Secret”, Earl Nightingale clearly defined success as “the progressive realization of a worthy ideal”, which basically means that if you truly set your mind to progressively work towards achieving your pre-determined goals and not allow anything to get in the way, then you are definitely a success. If not, you are a failure. Hum! That’s undoubtedly some food for serious thought right there…wouldn’t you agree?

At first, I had some difficulty digesting his definition of success, only because at that point in time I did not understand who I was, what I was all about and why I was getting the kind of unwanted results I was getting. But once I began to fully embrace who I truly am (a beautiful spiritual being in a temporary physical body suit) and completely understood that my life was not being shaped by unfortunate circumstances or exterior forces contrary to what I was led to believe, that’s when his message began to click. And as per his well-respected words of wisdom, the key to success or to failure lies in his now famous inspirational quote “we become what we think about.”

Make his words of wisdom part of your daily life

If you think in positive terms, you will get positive results, and if you think in negative terms, you will get negative results. He brilliantly compared the human mind with a good fertile land…although the human mind is far more fertile, incredible and mysterious, he metaphorically explained that, like the land, the mind does not care what you plant in it, it will return exactly what you plant. “As you sow, so shall you reap!” So, decide now what it is you want and plant that seed, your worthwhile goal, in your mind. And think about your goal in a relaxed, positive way, picturing in your mind’s eye that you have already achieved your goal. In other words, “fake it till you make it”…it works!

He then proceeded to tell us that the very law that gives us success is a two-edged sword and therefore we must control our thinking. The same law that can lead us to a life of success, wealth and happiness is the very same law that can lead us into the gutter. It’s all in how we use it – for good or for bad. Life should be an exciting adventure…therefore, pay close attention to what you are thinking, and don’t allow fear to consume your beautiful mind because it’s crippling. I know from personal experience that my doubts and fears can be my worst enemies sometimes, but once I do my best to focus my mind on even the smallest glimpse of possibilities, I always find a way to turn things around pretty quickly. And so can you!

And his success principles, also known as “the strangest secret” can be summed up as follows:

  • To understand emotionally as well as intellectually that you literally become what you think about and that you must control your thoughts if you are to control your life.
  • To cut away all the feathers from the mind and permit it to soar as it was divinely designed to do, to realize that your limitations are self-imposed and that the opportunities for you today are enormous beyond belief, and to rise above narrow-minded pettiness and prejudice.
  • To use all your courage to force yourself to think positively on your own problems, to set a definite and clearly defined goal for yourself, to let your marvelous mind think about your goal from all possible angles, to let your imagination speculate freely upon many different possible solutions, to refuse to believe there are any circumstances sufficiently strong to defeat you in the accomplishment of your purpose, to act promptly and decisively when your course is clear, and to keep constantly aware of the fact that you are, at this moment, standing in the middle of your own acre of diamonds.
  • To save at least 10% of what you earn.

So, keep calm and cheerful as he strongly recommends, and seek to sow positive thoughts so your life can be cheerful, successful and positive. Be of service, give more of yourself, and maintain a positive attitude.
